European Netherlands

The European Netherlands[1] (Dutch: Europees Nederland) or the European part of the Netherlands[2] refers to the part of the Netherlands that is located in Europe. The term is used to distinguish the European part from the islands Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius (Caribbean Netherlands in the Caribbean) which, after the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles on 10 October 2010, also form part of the Netherlands. The distinction is used for geographic reasons, but also because the Caribbean Netherlands have a related but separate system of law.
